Witches
The word Witch
is spoken in hush tones. When you hear this does it bring images of the evil
old hag deep in the forest throwing curses and hexes on all the innocent
individuals in the community or who comes near her. It could bring deep fear
from what you heard about the evil that lurks under your bed at night or in the
corner of your room. But is the Witch something to fear as you were led to
believe by not only the media throughout the ages but Hollywood as well. You have
a preconceived judgment on the word Witch and you know for a fact without any
proof that you are correct in your assumption because those closes to you has
told you this is a fact.
So, who is this
Witch you fear? She is your great-grandmother, grandmother, grandfather, auntie
and uncles, and yes, she is even your mother, father and you. She is a healer,
caregiver, teacher, herbalist, doctor, nurse, and the list goes on. The Witch
can either be male or female and they do walk amongst you. They are healers,
counselors, artists, gardeners. They are open and accepting of all individuals,
all religions and I ways of life without passing judgment on another for they
know it is not the Witches place to judge you.
Yet, you scream evil as you point
to them and decry they are on a fast trip to Hell, but you forget that Hell is
only in your religion. It is a place created by your religion to make you
follow your religion by using fear of Hell. The Witch understands that our
world has different realms and these realms may be darker than another but
there is nothing to fear in them but what you perceive as fearful. As our
grandmothers and mothers have said to us, “There is nothing to fear, but fear
itself.” The realms we speak of our lower realms, middle realms (where you are
at this moment) and the upper realms. One is not better than another but if one
had to be evil and scary it would be the middle realm where we live for it is
so full of chaos and darkness. The key to the light and your happiness is
within you so it is up to you to find your true path.
You heard the stories and tales growing up of your Uncle who
had a way with animals. Some whispered he was a horse whisperer and others will
say he is an animal whisperer. He has a gift they say. He was a Witch. Some
will be in awe while others will be jealous and several will try to discredit
him by placing a label on him. The one label that you throw at him in hopes to
bring shame is Witch. This does not hurt him for he will smile for he knows he
is a Witch and what he does is in balanced with the world. The one thing individuals miss is
the Witch respects all things including animals. Because of this respect that
the Witch offers the animals, they in turn respect the Witch. You say there is
no way possible for you to do this and yet you are so wrong. Slow down your
life and stop making it complicated and learn to respect others and yourself.
Take time to learn patience for no matter how long it takes the end result is
beautiful. Is it so hard to be understanding of others and respectful of them
whether they are animal, plant or human? Ask yourself what is it that makes you
want to discredit another? Is it your fear or do you really see yourself in
them and this scares you and then there are those who really desire to be just
like this man and yet does not know how to do it.
Remember your Auntie who was dubbed a little touched by
others in the neighborhood because she would be seen starring off in space and
mumbling to herself or having a yard full of what many say are weeds. Never forget the town committee of ladies in
their pretty pastel dresses who claimed that yard was a disgrace and yet your
Auntie would just smile and say this is her garden. You see, she saw beauty and understood the
plants and planted what was needed to make salve, poultice and tinctures so her
family stayed healthy. Her close friends
and neighbors would stop by bringing a basket of bread, eggs, pies, flowers,
etc. They sit around socializing and then
they leave with jars of tincture, salves and poultices. The community knew she was a Witch, a healer,
but they chose to ignore it because of her work helped their families. They paid her with goods out of respect for
her work. Now, there is always someone
in the community who has evil in their
heart would always stand up and decry that she is a Witch and she would just
smile and walk away. This person would
go around to the ladies that stopped by to try to make them stop and even times
use the image of the religion to try to sway these individuals. You
say we don’t burn witches these days because we are civilized society yet there
is nothing civilized about us then or now.
There are those out of spite, jealousy and anger who go out of their way
to judge and label another. They are
quick to pass the names around and stir up the community and what for, a moment
of notice by others.
So many people see labels
while the Witch sees people, animals and plants. They do not see you as your skin color, your
race or your sexual preference for the Witch sees you as a person a man, woman
or child. They give respect to all no
matter who you are and accepting they are, but although accepting they will not
stand by and watch you continue with your bullying and hate of themselves and
others. We have heard many of a brother
or sister to say that they let people be themselves but then when they begin to
bully the children or animals that it is another story. The Witch is protective of her family and
what others call the underdog and yes them will then throw a curse or hex
sending back to you what you were sending back.
No they are not rash or quick to act for they watch and wait to give a
person a chance to change their way.
Some say that neo pagan is a new movement and this is a
witch craze or fad and it will pass and that the religion will win this battle
on evil. In truth, it was never a fad or
a witch craze. Over the centuries people
decided to not fight the battle of the religion and to accept it although there
was always at least one in each generation that used their natural abilities as
the Witch. Now over the centuries the
religion has gotten bigger, stronger which has turned into greed. Some of the people have begun to open their
eyes realizing that this fast past world is wrong for them for it is causing
ill health, stress, family destruction, etc.
They silently have watched the religion and have seen it is not
impartial and pure but it now has it hands deep in the pockets of the
government. This same religion has dictated
what a family should be, how to treat the women and children and these same men
who push this word out to the society at large are the ones causing the worst
damage. This has turned some back to the
ways of the Goddess and the practices of the Witch for the female version is
more nurturing and kind and less violent then the male version.
